The Exhibition<\/h2><\/div>
The exhibition titled Paths to the Cross<\/em> is presented by the \u201cSaint Epiphanios\u201d Cultural Academy and the Holy Bishopric of Constantia and Ammochostos, within the framework of the VI International Conference on the Hagiography of Cyprus they are organising between 1-4 May 2022, examining the theme “The veneration of the Holy Cross in Cyprus”.<\/p>\n

The temporary exhibition in its physical form is held at the church of Agia Anna in Paralimni, from the 27th of March until the 21st of May 2022.<\/p>\n

The exhibition has the written travel accounts<\/a> of the Russian monk Vasilij Gregorovich
\nBarskij (Basil Grigorovitch Barsky) as a focal point. With an interactive map<\/a>, the visitor follows Barskij’s path to places, monasteries and churches linked to the Holy Cross, which he visited during his travels through Cyprus in the 18th century. Barskij’s travel accounts are complemented by other historical narratives and research reports, with supplementary visual materials.<\/div><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1638371357342{margin-top: -20px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text]The HISTORIES <\/a>section presents published historical sources containing references to the Holy Cross in Cyprus.<\/p>\n

In a separate section, titled FAMAGUSTA<\/a>, aspects of the veneration of the Holy Cross in the occupied Famagusta district are presented.<\/p>\n

The chosen exhibits will also be shown on the website, in the section EXHIBITS<\/a>, after the end of the physical exhibition (21 May 2022). Detailed descriptions of exhibits from the Diocese of Constantia and Ammochostos are provided in a separate printed book, titled Paths to the Cross. Catalogue of Exhibits<\/em> (Agia Napa 2022). Objects found in Cyprus are presented in the exhibition, each having a specific use, coming from various locations, and dating from different periods. Each object unfolds the thread of its path and narrates its own story.<\/p>\n
